- Manufacturing Operations Manager
We are looking for a Manufacturing Operations Manager to oversee the entire manufacturing process for a hi-tech company who design and manufacture a range of electro-mechanical scientific instrumentation. This role is vital in driving all manufacturing processes working closely with internal engineering teams and external stakeholders to ensure that products are delivered to customers in an efficient and timely manner with strict quality standards. Other responsibilities will include:
In the UK:
- Looking at the current manufacturing processes and practices and analysing these to make sure they are effective and then working out a strategy to improve these. This will include managing resources needed for equipment and training additional staff.
- Implementing KPI’s and areas of improvement and communicating these to all employees.
- Direct reports will include 2 assembly managers, machine shop manager, planners and assembly engineers.
- Presenting finding to senior management and stakeholders.
- Managing all day to day manufacturing activities analysing statistics and reading and writing reports.
- Applying lean manufacturing principles to design, specify and validate world class manufacturing processes to achieve cost, quality and capacity goals.
- Monitor product quality and returns
- Working with all internal engineering and R&D teams to ensure they are all following a consistent approach.
- Plan, schedule and assign work and ensure the company are in compliance with all policies and procedures.
- Manage the site maintenance procedures.
- Researching new production technologies and alternative methods of manufacturing and production efficiency.
- Overseeing inventory, distribution of goods and facility layout.
- Working with QA to manage quality assurance programmes.
For this role you will need:
- Experience of managing and improving manufacturing processes with a hi-tech field.
- A formal engineering qualification.
- A passion for continuous improvement and implementing Lean techniques.
- An ambitious engineer who wants to progress and make significant changes within a successful expanding organisation.
- A self-starter who can inspire and lead teams of engineers.
