- Description
- Oxford University spin out with considerable financial backing, currently 16 staff, aiming to double in 2017. One of their most urgent vacancies is for a Graduate Software Developer who can fit into either their Web, Desktop or Algorithms team to work on their unique, patented scientific instrument.
The Graduate Software Developer should fit one of the following profiles:
Graduate Web Developer
Implementing a front-end to navigate through, present and visualize large datasets and a back-end running on the cloud to process and store data. For the front-end you’ll need to have an eye for design and UX, and would likely have experience using d3.js and webGL. For the back-end you’ll have a range of experience to decide the best tool for the job, but expect to be working with Python, .NET and AWS.
Desktop Graduate Software Developer
Primarily written in modern C++ with Qt Widgets for the user-interface but also includes Python, .NET and CUDA. Demonstrated experience using C++ is a must and experience using a user-interface framework (Qt/MFC/WinForms etc…) is of benefit, as is experience in the scientific sector.
Algorithm Developer
You’ll be solving data analysis problems for a wide range of biological applications and designing smart algorithms to optimize experiments, utilising statistical methods and machine learning. Experience in Python and popular data analysis/machine learning packages (numpy, scipy, sklearn etc…) is preferable and C++ is a definite advantage. Any experience with single molecule fluorescence or super-resolution microscopy is a plus.
Due to the highly technical nature of the work they have high standards and an excellent academic background is essential. Graduate Software Developers need to have mostly A/A* grade A levels and a degree from a top University.
