- Applications and Support Engineer
Exeter
Working in a small division of an optics organisation who have a vast array of products sold on a global scale, you will play a key role in all pre sales activity including testing products and then making sure the customer is using the product correctly and efficiently. You will also provide critical support to installation, commissioning and customer engineering services. The position is based in Exeter and for the first year will be mostly site based and will then after this involve travel typically once every 6 weeks to EU destinations. The travel is shared between the engineers and will typically not be for longer than 3 to 4 days at a time. Other responsibilities with the position will include:
- Provide remote support, site based visits to customers in the UK, Ireland and EU.
- Repairing and testing optics and photonics equipment that comes into the office.
- Gain a full understanding of the product range and identify how it can be used in a range of different applications and communicate these findings to customers.
- Help to resolve any process issues and work closely to improve machine performance.
- Provide feedback to various internal R&D teams on usability and potential improvements.
For this role you will need:
- A degree in Physics, optics, electronics or electrical engineering or a related discipline.
- Any experience of working with optical fibre products would be highly desirable or a similar hi-tech field.
- Some experience of working with customer in a customer focussed engineering role.
- Knowledge of statistical based analysis and process improvement tools.
- Flexibility to travel on occasion.
