- Description
- We are looking for a Senior DevOps Engineer to be an integral part of a 25 man software development team, supporting them on project based work involving Linux, Windows and VMware servers and advance switch configuration.
You will be the sole DevOps engineer in this team so ability to work autonomously is essential. This is a brand new positon reporting to the Software Team leader (the work was previously done by the IT support team) and you will have responsibility for architectural decisions. For the right candidate, there will be opportunities for the DevOps Engineer to be involved in hands on software development so any prior experience in C++ or Java will be beneficial.
Senior DevOps Engineer essential skills
- Linux administrator with at least 3 years’ experience (Red hat certified ideal)
- Windows Administrator with at least 3 years’ experience
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in the following areas:
- Virtualisation platforms using hypervisors/VMs in a multi-OS configuration (Linux/Windows)
- Fine customisation of VMs in a complex networking environment
- PC-Over-IP in virtualised environment
- Network and switch configuration/administration
- Experience with Packer and Vagrant.
- An understanding of software design methodologies (UML) and programming languages (C++ or Java)
- The successful candidate must be capable of achieving security (SC) clearance as a minimum
- Exposure to Data Distribution Service (DDS)
- Commercial experience of UML and OO design methodologies
- Commercial experience of real time designs, programming concepts and design patterns.
- Proficiency in high level programming language (C++ or Java).
- Experience of specification development, verification and validation.
