- Operations Director
As Operations Director you will need to combine a strategic approach to business and have a natural flair for operations innovation and development, working for an organisation who have significant further expansion planned. The product range focusses on high technology capital equipment with the backing of a global group. The Royston site has been a huge success story with plans now to move into a new state of the art facility to fit in with their ambitious plans for the future. An excellent job has been done to implement Lean initiatives across the business, and now a new approach is needed to develop, implement and manage strategic and tactical approaches to drive operational resources forward. The position will take overall responsibility for all business improvements, so although a manufacturing understanding is needed you will also need to be able to drive all R&D and design improvements within the business.
The position will work closely with the MD with the potential to make changes at a global level with the opportunity to then move into more a more senior strategic focussed role in the future within the business. Some other responsibilities will include:
- Working closely with the product development teams and optimising supply chain effectiveness aligning these areas with a long term strategic vision (Innovation is at the heart of the business)
- Playing a significant role in the movement of the current site into a brand new facility.
- Providing consistent and effective leadership within operational context across the entire organisation.
- Driving all manufacturing methods for new and existing products whilst overseeing all purchasing, quality and HSE aspects.
- Playing a key role in delivering start-up operations in new facilities and other locations.
- Identifying skills, knowledge and experience needed to aid in the development within the operations group to meet the needs of long term business strategy.
- Encouraging and driving an environment that supports learning and individual development within a business that is always open to change.
- Developing, implementing and monitoring departmental objectives and schedules and set priorities and performance expectations.
- Leading and driving senior managers within the business to take action consistent with the company’s overall strategy.
For this role we are looking for….
- A degree in a relevant engineering or scientific discipline with significant experience in executive level management within a hi-tech engineering field.
- A strategic and analytical thinker who has the ability to drive operational performance with an ambition to move into a more senior role in the future.
- Experience of running multi-site operations ideally on a global stage.
- A strong understanding of supply chain management.
- Experience of driving continuous improvement initiatives.
