Description
Applications/Development Engineer

This is a diverse role where you will gain exposure to working on the latest laser technology collaborating with cross functional teams of engineers and customers working at a state of the art R&D and manufacturing facility. As part of the Applications team you will develop a deep understanding of the product range and future technologies which will enable customers to maximise the performance of their products which can be used in a wide range of industries across the world.

Although the role is Applications focussed it is mainly a lab based position conducting experimental work with internal engineering teams rather than having a major customer focus. Some key areas of the role will be:

-              Processing customer samples and then creating reports and solutions to any improvement opportunities.

-              Developing new areas of opportunity by determining how new processes will work and then communicating clearly how this can be achieved.

-              Working with product managers to make sure all work is in line with their expectations.

-              Setting up and building test rigs and workstations when required.

-              Producing reference sample tests which can demonstrate a particular process with a laser.

For this role we are looking for:

-              A degree in a scientific or engineering related discipline.

-              An understanding of optics or lasers would be desirable.

-              The ability to communicate and develop ideas with cross functional teams of engineers, scientists and customers.

-              You may be required to travel a few times a year to visit customer sites or attend conferences.
