Description

Minimum requirements

  • Degree in a technical discipline (i.e. engineering / software / maths / physics)
  • Experience of efficient and repeatable testing in an embedded software environment
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience of scripting in C, C++ and/or Python
  • Experience of testing embedded communications software
  • Ability to multitask
  • Excellent attention to detail

Specific responsibilities

Test engineers work on projects in multidisciplinary teams, sometimes on more than one concurrently. High quality work is essential from every team member.

As a project team member you would be responsible for carrying out your specific project tasks within the timescales and budgets agreed with your project managers. As your experience develops, you might wish to take on further responsibilities.

Desirable

  • ISEB Fundamental / Intermediate certificate in Software testing
  • Skills in automating testing to enable higher test coverage within a given time
  • Experience of generating tests plans from requirement specifications or use cases
  • Experience of SVN or other source control systems
  • Experience of using a bug tracking database
  • Familiarity with standard software compilers and toolchains (gcc / make etc)
  • Familiarity with various platforms (Windows / Linux / Unix / Solaris)
