- Engineering Manager- Power Systems
Working as Engineering Manager, you will take responsibility for a Centre of Excellence (COE), where you will lead a talented team of cross functional engineers on a range of electrical power systems projects. The work is diverse and could range from large legacy aerospace projects to new drone technology collaborating with a multitude of clients across the world.
Based at their state-of-the-art design and manufacturing facility, you will lead an expanding team comprised of mechanical engineers, electromagnetic engineers, team leaders and product specialists with a mix of perm and contract staff. We are looking for a leader who has the technical skills to be able to inspire the team, combined with ability to distribute leadership and leverage senior team members to help adapt to the demands of constantly evolving projects.
The role reports into the Head of Engineering who will support you to take ownership of the department and make the changes you feel necessary to drive the business unit forward. You will oversee recruitment, performance development, coaching, resource planning and training with financial management responsibility for the entire machines department. The site is around 500 engineers in total, but the company are global, so you have the support of technology specialists from multiple sites.
Taking accountability for delivering and supporting engineering products during the whole life cycle from research into service you will be responsible for the creation and maintenance of strategic planning initiatives and technology roadmaps.
Some of the key areas of experience we are looking for are:
- A degree in Mechanical engineering or a related field.
- Experience of working in the electrical power engineering field. An appreciation of rotating technology.
- A mature leader who listens and absorbs information with experience of driving forward cross functional teams of engineers.
- A background of driving forward projects with exposure to the full lifecycle product development from research to release.
