- Engineering Buyer- New Product Development
London- Leyton
Taking responsibility for all new product development procurement you will play a vital role in the growth of an expanding hi-tech engineering organisation. The company have a large presence in the US and have recently formed a European division based in London, so the company has a start-up feel with the backing of a larger organisation.
You will be the sole buyer on site reporting into the Global Supply Chain director in America so you will take ownership for managing the supply of raw materials, components or subassemblies for New Product development from prototype stage through to mass production.
Working closely with internal engineering teams you will work in a fast-paced environment liaising regularly with external international manufacturing partners.
You will have a nearly blank canvas to identify potential suppliers to support prototype and validation builds helping to identify and meet material requirements to support builds in global manufacturing locations.
As well as the strategic side of things you will also ensure parts are correctly ordered, received and stored helping to transfer all materials to warehouses in preparation for mass production.
The position will involve some travel to global manufacturing and supplier sites which could be up to 30%.
For this role we are looking for:
- Experience of working as a buyer within a hi-tech engineering environment with a good understanding of new product development.
- A strong electronic and mechanical sourcing understanding.
- The ability to work with cross functional teams of engineers and partners on a global scale.
