- Lab/Workshop Technician
We are currently working with an extremely interesting client which will give you an opportunity to join a small multi-disciplinary team and be a part of developing pioneering technology. They are looking for a motivated a Lab/Workshop Technician with strong practical hands on skills and a willingness to learn, you will be given a lot of support and training on the product range and a chance to work with well-established engineers with great progression opportunities. In the future you may get the chance to develop other skills.
The company are small but ambitious and have some big development plans and large projects on the horizon, you will be part of assembling working prototypes and assist with the miniaturisation of their products also on a range of support functions.
Principle Accountabilities
- Work closely with members of the team to aid in the development of ultrasonic surface cleaning devices.
- Support a diverse range of activities including;
- Prototyping
- Benching fitting
- Mechanical assembly of jigs and fixtures
- Epoxy bonding
- Applying chemical coatings to surfaces
- Soldering wiring and cables
- Support prototyping and short-batch production of ultrasonic assemblies and supporting components.
- Assist in house-keeping activities to ensure the workshop/lab continues to be a tidy and safe environment.
- Integrate and develop good working relationships with the small team to ensure clear communication and fast problem solving on technical matters.
- Be self-motivated and agile in solving technical problems and completing tasks.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- Professional qualification in mechanical engineering or similar
- Apprenticeship, NVQ 3, BTEC, HNC
- Experience in a workshop or laboratory environment
- An ability to interpret engineering specifications and drawings
- Adaptable and open minded to a wide range of tasks
- Strong team working and communication attitude
- (Preferable) Experience with metal working machines (milling machines or lathes)
