- Description
- This is an engineering focused role requiring an experienced software engineer who understands the wider aspects of a system and can work in tandem with other teams such as mechanical and electrical. Often, the solutions evolve with other disciplines so a “systems engineering” mindset needs to be applied.
The job is varied, you’ll typically work in small teams on 3 or 4 projects simultaneously, but most will be marine based. As an example, a current project extracts high speed data from underwater sensors including depth, pressure, temperature, water flow, buoyancy etc aggregates and performs some complex maths before displaying the information to users. You will be responsible for many facets from front end GUI to low level embedded.
This is a technical lead role, you’ll need to make decisions without escalating to management and supervise 2 other skilled software engineers. Technical skills must include strong C++ in an engineering environment and an understanding of real time systems.
