Taking ownership of New Product Development projects across the business this diverse role will play a pivotal part in laying the engineering foundations that are vital for growth. You will need to be a confident leader ideally with the ambition to want to progress into more senior roles within the business in the future.
The company are already a leading player within their niche sector and have achieved huge growth in a short space of time with an impressive array of low volume high value products. The potential for further expansion from a technology perspective is huge and this role will help them to evolve giving the team the clear structure and confidence that is needed to take things to the next level.
Because of the nature of the projects and the team you will be managing it is important you have come from a design background, with a clear understand of what makes a great product. This could be from a mechanical, software, electronics or even physics bias as long as you have the cross functional technical understanding.
Working closely with the Head of Engineering you will work on several key areas of development which will help to improve the overall quality of products whilst putting in place clear milestones for all future development.
The role has the potential to be hugely rewarding as you will be able to clearly see your changes come to life without some of the red tape that you may associate with larger businesses. With change there is always some resistance so you will need to have the leadership ability and confidence to challenge any potential problems that could occur during the NPD process.
The business has a strong reputation for promoting from within so this role could lead to more senior positions within the business longer term. The team you would take charge of would be a mix of mechanical, systems, validation and NPD engineers with the potential to grow in the future.
For this role we are looking for…
A degree within an engineering or scientific related discipline.
Experience of managing teams of cross functional engineers within a hi-tech engineering environment.
Experience of working as a design or systems engineer before moving into a more senior management role.
A proven background of driving forward NPD projects across a business.
Strong project management background ideally with experience of stage gate methodology.
