Description
Mechanical CAD Design Engineer (with Milling)

Working for a small engineering company within the printing industry, this position has 2 main aspects to it, 3D CAD ideally using Autodesk, and practical hands on milling/machining, working on one off customer prototypes.

The company are at the size where you can make a real difference with a family feel, but you will wear multiple hats and be part of the journey as they start a new chapter and grow, they have recently been acquired by a large international company with strong backing so this is an exciting time for the company.

You will not just be machining day in, day out, you will also visit customer sites and see where your designs will be used, take specifications, and work closely with machine builders. We are looking for someone who has strong experience with 3D CAD but someone who also is very practical and hands on and can produce parts and one offs using the Mill.

They do their design and manufacturing in house and have a small workshop where they are working mainly with aluminium extrusion as a base, you will work on a lot of custom bespoke prototypes using 3D Modelling, AutoCAD and .stp files from the manufacturer so you can model your designs showing installation into complex machinery.

This is a great opportunity for a mechanical Design/CAD engineer to take ownership of the area and join a growing company. Get in touch to find out more… responsibilities may include…
  • Design (3D modelling/AutoCAD) including customer visits or remote meetings to discuss designs
  • A practical background with some milling experience for one off and prototyping
  • Designing 1 off pieces and then been able to machine them creating prototypes.
  • Engineering Drawings.
  • Customer site visits
  • Supporting Installations and manufacturing.
