Taking ownership of all R&D activities this role will play a vital part in the creation of technology that is saving and improving the lives of children across the world. The company are on an exciting journey with big plans to grow the existing product range, whilst also investing in new areas of disruptive technology.
You will manage teams of Mechanical, software, systems, validation and project engineers with a total headcount of 34. The position will give you the freedom and backing that is needed to improve the R&D department with the fundamental aim to deliver projects on time and within budget.
The role requires a flair for innovation and development within medical technology, combining this with commercial awareness. You will need to be a technically strong leader who can inspire and lead a bright team of engineers across a range of products and projects.
The product range is diverse and is used within neonatal wards and hospitals across the world. The business has strong cash foundations, with ambitious growth plans for the future. R&D will play an important part in these plans with great potential to grow the team and generate more technology.
The team will shortly be moving to a brand new state of the art facility which will be the main base for R&D.
Some of the day to day responsibilities will include
Develop and maintain the R&D process in line with international regulatory standards.
Work on the strategic development and planning of the department giving feedback on timescales and budgets.
Encourage creativity and teamwork across your team.
For this role we are looking for:
A degree in a technical engineering field
A strong cross functional engineering background with experience of managing teams of engineers within an R&D department.
Proven background of working with medical devices with a clear understanding of all the regulations that are required within this sector.
A self-starter with the ability to combine great team management with commercial awareness.
