- Description
- Senior Mechanical Engineer
You will join a small, highly technical mechanical design team working on complex, precision‑engineered products that are designed and manufactured entirely on site. This is an environment with very little red tape so if you see a better way of doing something, you’ll be encouraged to make the change and see it through.
You’ll be involved at every stage of the product lifecycle, from early concept and detailed mechanical design through to prototype build, testing, and production support. You won’t hand designs over and move on, you’ll stay close to the hardware, learning what works, refining what doesn’t, and continuously improving the product.
The work is technically challenging. The products are complex systems, and mechanical engineering sits at the centre, working closely with systems, electronics, software, and physics teams. You’ll be solving real engineering problems where performance, reliability, thermal behaviour, tolerancing, and manufacturability all matter.
Because the team is small, you’ll have real technical ownership and autonomy. Your ideas will be heard, your decisions will have impact, and there’s genuine scope to influence both designs and how engineering is done. There is also a strong culture of training and development, with clear opportunities to grow into more senior or technical lead roles over time.
This is a role for someone who enjoys being hands‑on, thinking deeply about engineering problems, and taking designs all the way through to production, not just working on one small slice of the process.
Essential requirements
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent)
- Approximately 5+ years’ industry experience in a mechanical engineering role
- Proven experience delivering full‑lifecycle mechanical design (concept to production)
- Strong core mechanical engineering knowledge, including FEA, thermal considerations, and GD&T
- Experience working on complex, multi‑disciplinary products
- Comfortable with prototype build and testing
- Able to work independently in a low‑bureaucracy, technically demanding environment
