- Description
- In this role, you will be responsible for designing precision mechanical and opto-mechanical components and assemblies for high-performance laser systems. You'll use 3D CAD software to create detailed designs and manufacturing documentation while ensuring products are reliable, manufacturable, and easy to assemble and service.
Working closely with multidisciplinary teams including mechanical, optical, electronics, manufacturing, and quality engineers, you'll help bring new products from concept through to production. This innovative engineering company has been designing and manufacturing cutting-edge technology for over 50 years. Based in a state-of-the-art facility, they develop advanced products used across a range of high-tech industries.
Alongside new product development, you'll lead smaller engineering improvement projects, resolve manufacturing and quality challenges, collaborate with suppliers, and support the introduction of design changes into production. The role offers a varied mix of design, problem-solving, technical analysis, and hands-on engineering.
We're looking for candidates with a degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent qualifications with relevant industry experience. Experience in opto-mechanical design and proficiency with a 3D CAD package such as SolidWorks are essential. Knowledge of design for manufacture and assembly, engineering drawings, and experience working with cross-functional teams will be highly valued.
Exposure to finite element analysis (FEA), computational fluid dynamics (CFD), engineering change management, or precision manufacturing would be advantageous.
This position would suit a proactive engineer who enjoys working on technically challenging products, takes ownership of projects, and thrives in a collaborative engineering environment. In return, you'll have the opportunity to work on sophisticated technology, develop your technical expertise, and play a key role in delivering innovative products to a global market.
Requirements:
- Degree qualified in a mechanical engineering discipline or HND/HNC.
- Experience using a 3D CAD package.
- Experience in optomechanical design.
