- Description
- Space Manufacturing/Planning Engineer
Didcot or Stevenage
This key role will shape manufacturing planning and Assembly, Integration & Test (AIT) activities within a growing space technology organisation developing advanced satellite electronics and communications systems. Based in either the company’s state-of-the-art facility in Didcot (Harwell Campus) or its Stevenage site, you will play a central role in coordinating manufacturing and AIT activities, supporting the successful delivery of complex engineering programmes from manufacturing through to qualification and deployment.
As a Space Manufacturing / Planning Engineer, you will coordinate manufacturing schedules, manage workflow priorities, and ensure materials, resources and engineering activities align with programme delivery milestones. Working closely with design, procurement, quality, test and logistics teams, you will help identify and resolve manufacturing bottlenecks, support configuration management activities, and maintain accurate production data across multiple programmes.
The position requires someone who can balance technical understanding with strong planning and organisational skills, ensuring manufacturing and AIT activities are delivered efficiently while maintaining the highest quality standards. You will also play a key role in driving continuous improvement initiatives across manufacturing and test operations, helping to improve throughput, reduce rework and enhance overall operational performance.
We're looking for an experienced engineer with a strong background in manufacturing engineering, manufacturing operations, production planning, or Assembly, Integration & Test (AIT) environments. You will have experience coordinating complex engineering or manufacturing programmes from planning through to delivery, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills and the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced technical environment.
Experience within the space, satellite, aerospace, defence, electronics, or other highly regulated engineering sectors would be advantageous. Familiarity with ERP or MES systems, configuration management processes, quality standards and manufacturing control methodologies would also be beneficial. Exposure to phased-array antenna technology, onboard processing systems, or other advanced communications technologies would be considered a distinct advantage.
Requirements- Degree or equivalent qualification in Engineering or a related discipline.
- Experience in production planning, manufacturing or AIT within a complex engineering environment.
- Strong organisational, analytical and stakeholder management skills.
