- Description
- Head of Quality
6-Month+ Contract
This is an opportunity to join a specialist engineering and manufacturing business at a pivotal stage in its quality journey. Operating within a low-volume, high-complexity environment, the business supplies technically advanced products into demanding and highly regulated industries where quality, reliability and compliance are critical.
The focus of this contract is not simply maintaining existing systems. The business is looking for an experienced Quality leader who can make an immediate impact, driving improvements across quality systems, processes and culture whilst providing strong leadership across the wider operation. Working closely with senior stakeholders, engineering teams, production and supply chain functions, you'll play a key role in strengthening quality capability across the business.
Reporting directly into senior leadership, you'll take ownership of the Quality Management System and help shape the future direction of quality across the site. A key priority will be supporting the ongoing development of quality systems, embedding best practice and ensuring quality is viewed as a shared responsibility throughout the organisation rather than a standalone function.
This role requires someone who is equally comfortable operating in leadership meetings and on the shop floor. You'll be expected to provide strategic direction whilst remaining hands-on when required, supporting investigations, driving corrective actions, developing teams and helping resolve complex quality challenges.
The environment would suit an experienced contractor who enjoys building, influencing and delivering tangible improvements. Experience within engineering, aerospace, defence, electronics, precision manufacturing or other highly regulated industries would be particularly relevant.
Key Skills & Experience
• Significant senior quality leadership experience within engineering or manufacturing environments
• Strong knowledge of ISO 9001 and/or AS9100 quality management systems
• Experience improving, transforming or implementing Quality Management Systems
• Experience within low-volume, high-complexity or highly regulated manufacturing environments
• Strong understanding of product conformity, inspection, testing and release processes
• Experience leading non-conformance investigations, root cause analysis and corrective actions
• Ability to influence and build relationships across engineering, production, procurement and leadership teams
• Experience developing quality teams and driving wider organisational quality capability
• Strong knowledge of quality tools and methodologies including 8D, A3 and root cause analysis
• Practical and hands-on leadership style
• Experience within aerospace, defence, electronics, precision engineering or similar sectors would be advantageous
