As a manufacturing Software Engineer you will be taking the lead responsibility in a team of 4 looking to streamline the test process. Currently testing is predominantly being achieved with LabVIEW, however it is a key objective to extend built in test coverage at all levels of the product architecture. As a manufacturing software engineer you will be working for a global leader, they design develop and manufacture electronic equipment used extensively in the communications / IT sector. Your team will be creating and maintaining production test solutions for this electro mechanical product. Due to the specialist nature of their business, it is not expected that the manufacturing software engineer will have experience with a similar product as long as their experience comes broadly from manufacturing within the electronic sector.
The manufacturing Software Engineer will play a key role in communication and liaison with other members of the development and manufacturing teams. Our client is open minded in terms of the technology you have worked with and is genuinely keen to hire someone who can offer fresh ideas and who is not afraid of suggesting changes to their processes.
Required Skills
Hands on experience with hardware, especially finding hardware faults through software.
Strong understanding of software version control
Highly organised with project management skills and the ability to prioritise workload
Able to work effectively as part of a team
Capable of applying existing experience at the cutting edge of technology and developing new skills as required
Desirable skills
Cross-platform development experience
Experience with LabVIEW
Experience with C software development
Understanding of interfaces between Windows and Linux systems
