The role would be a good fit for technical hands on engineers with exposure to Project Management. Possibly originally form a Service or Maintenance engineering environment.
Working as a Project Manager you will take ownership of the full project lifecycle from specifying, quoting, designing, building, testing and installation for an expanding division of a company who provide hi-tech equipment for the food industry. This role will appeal to technical project managers who thrive on working on diverse projects as many of the projects will involve significant customisation of existing projects or a standard products being installed into new territories. Project timelines typically range from 2-6 months with several running in parallel. Other responsibilities will include:
- Working closely with customers and gaining a real understanding for their requirements and then carrying out site surveys as necessary.
- Working closely with the Sales teams to identify new prospects that require project management.
- Working with internal engineering teams to understand and identify suitable requirements. This will involve liaising with mechanical design, electrical design, and software and electronics teams.
- Manage risks and timing plans throughout the project.
- Coordinate across all departments to ensure the project can be delivered on time and within budget with all the requirements met.
- During the design phase work closely with Product Engineering and Quality teams to identify additional testing, validation and risk assessment requirements.
- Act as a single point of contact for various projects.
- Manage the handover at the end of the project to service e teams.
- Developing and documenting a company specific stage gate process.
For this role you will need:
- Proven project management skills working on technical projects with cross functional teams of engineers.
- Prince 2 or APM qualification with an understanding of stage gate methodology.
- A dynamic manager who can inspire teams of engineers and customers with a ‘can do’ attitude.
- Ideally experience of working within the food industry.
- Commercially aware with regards to cost, pricing and margins.
