Due to a growth in business, a leading global manufacturer of opto-electronic based products, has a new Field Service Customer Support Engineer vacancy.
The individual should have good understanding of electronics with a working knowledge of optics. You will have to diagnose faults down to component level and work with electronic circuitry. Computer literacy skills are essential and a good understanding of Windows PC OS 7.
Key tasks as the Field Service Customer Support Engineer…
- 1st line support for customers - Respond to emails and phone calls from existing customers in regard to software and hardware support issues. (WebEx or remote desktop support)
- 2nd line support for engineer site visits - Visit existing UK customers to resolve reported faults and undertake scheduled maintenance and requested upgrades.
- Presales support - Support the UK sales team with technical assistance in the areas of IT, system functionality and assist site demonstrations when requested. Liaise with sales engineers on potential customer upgrades to existing systems.
- Set-up, pre-testing, delivery, training and installation - Visiting customer sites to commission newly purchased equipment and give customer training.
Skills required…
- Min 2 years’ experience in servicing and repairing of professional digital / optical equipment is required.
- Diagnose faults in electronic circuitry and have the ability to remove and replace components at board level.
- Candidate must have strong computer skills in Windows OS and PC hardware. Windows Server 2012R2 beneficial.
- Excellent communication skills and the capability to explain and communicate about complex technical matters.
