- Description
- Bioanalytical Laboratory Service Manager- Set up a new department from scratch!
This role will give you the chance to create a new service offering for a hugely ambitious biotechnology business in Cambridge. As part of the senior leadership team, you will play a vital part in helping them to achieve their vision of changing the way we look at diagnosing diseases and develop treatments across the world.
Based out of the design and manufacturing facility, this role will create a new laboratory service operation taking ownership of all customer samples and analysis. This has the potential to be a huge area of growth for the business where you will be responsible for building this from the ground up.
The company have products on the market with more set to be released later this year. The service operation will add another revenue stream to the business whilst also helping them understand and collate more data by working with a more diverse range of customers.
Evolving over time, you will move into more of a managerial role but at the early stages you will need to be fairly hands on covering a range of areas from:
- Running customer samples in the laboratory and then recording these on the LIMS platform.
- Reporting and communicating results to customers and managing multiple projects simultaneously.
- Increasing the lab capacity in line with demand and ensuring compliance with ISO17025.
- Work closely with the assay development group to implement new protocols and SOP’s to expand the menu of Lab services offered to customers.
- Recruit, manage and motivate a world class team.
You will need to have a strong commercial focus with an understanding of not only how to set this up but also how to then recruit and grow the team in the future. Although its important you have a background in biotechnology, there are plenty of leading scientists to help you understand the technical nature of the product.
Ideally you will have a PhD or Masters degree in Biochemistry or Biophysics with an understand of LEAN methodologies and familiarity with LIMS platform.
