- Description
- This role requires the expertise of a Linux Administrator who is also confident with a scripting or programming language in order to automate tools and infrastructure within an engineering environment. The role is split approximately 60% DevOps activities and 40% Linux administration.
At present, various development teams in the business are managing their own tools and infrastructure such as Git, SVN, Jira and in-house developed systems – your initial responsibilities will be take over some of the critical aspects of these systems and provide specialised support.
Although you will work closely with engineers, you will remain part of the highly skilled infrastructure team who are responsible for developing, installing and maintaining a range of services to support business systems and processes. The team is routinely challenged with innovative and technical requirements in the pursuit of market-leading initiatives.
Linux Administrator essential requirements:
- Linux administration (physical and virtual/VMware)
- An excellent understanding of networking.
- Strong scripting skills – maybe Bash, Python, Perl etc
- Security systems
- Modern approach to Linux automated deployment (e.g. Ansible, puppet, chef, docker)
- Strong technical knowledge and a desire to learn
- Willingness to support all areas of the IT services user base as required
- The ability to work well within a small team
