- Description
- This is a hands-on role where the successful candidate will help ensure that testing equipment meets the necessary standards to support the development of fibre lasers. The organisation is seeking a Product Engineer to test and validate components critical to advanced laser systems.
Based in a laboratory environment, the role provides a practical engineering setting where the engineer will ensure components meet performance standards, support troubleshooting, and contribute directly to the reliability of the organisation’s laser technology.
The Product Engineer will be responsible for testing and verifying vendor-supplied components, configuring and documenting new components, and occasionally performing electrical setup of optical elements. The role involves close collaboration with other departments to resolve technical issues and analyse test data to inform decision-making.
It is ideally suited to candidates with hands-on experience in optics or fibre optics, and this role is open to technicians with strong practical skills. Experience with lasers is advantageous but not essential.
The organisation provides full training in fibre handling and testing, along with a clear progression pathway for career development within optics and laser engineering. Candidates should be comfortable using laboratory equipment such as power meters, optical scopes, and other test instruments, and demonstrate a proactive, detail-oriented approach to troubleshooting and testing.
This role requires:- Hands-on experience in a lab or R&D environment, ideally in optics or photonics
- Strong background in optics or fiber optics
- Practical skills with lab equipment and test setups
- Proactive and detail-oriented approach to troubleshooting and testing
