Description
Senior Polymer Production Chemist

If you want to be part of something truly cutting-edge, this could be your next move. The company is investing heavily in new technology and expanding rapidly, working on advanced rocket propulsion systems designed to eliminate the risk of strikes – the safer, smarter side of defence.

It’s a chance to join a team shaping the future of aerospace and polymer science.

You’ll be at the heart of polymer synthesis and production, taking processes from lab scale through to full industrial operations.

This isn’t just routine manufacturing – you’ll be optimising polymerisation techniques, solving complex technical challenges, and making sure everything meets the highest safety and quality standards. You’ll also play a key role in mentoring junior chemists and influencing how this new facility operates.

The role involves working with Hydroxyl-Terminated Polybutadiene (HTPB) using anionic polymerisation methods, so experience in this area will be a big advantage.

What we’re looking for:
• MSc or PhD in Chemistry or Polymer Chemistry
• Strong polymer synthesis experience, ideally including Hydroxyl-Terminated Polybutadiene (HTPB) using anionic methods
• Hands-on lab work through to industrial operations
• Minimum 3 years’ industrial experience
• Knowledge of UK health, safety, and environmental regulations

Desirable
• Chartered Chemist status or working towards it
• Experience with thermoplastics, thermosets, elastomers
• Familiarity with SPC, Lean, Six Sigma

You will need to get SC clearance for this role.
