- Description
- This role lets you drive quality engineering at a high-tech company and gain visibility into products throughout their lifecycle. This proactive, hands-on role lets you own quality improvements, influence processes, and help prevent issues before they arise. For someone with strong leadership potential, it also offers the chance to build and manage a team as the function and responsibilities grow.
Based in a state-of-the-art facility with over 200 engineers, this company is internationally recognised and has a strong presence in the industrial machinery sector. You will have an engineering qualification or relevant experience in a manufacturing environment, with a good understanding of quality engineering principles. You will be confident reading engineering drawings, investigating quality issues and putting corrective actions in place. Experience with quality tools such as SPC and 8D problem solving, supplier audits and ISO 9001 would also be beneficial.
This is a unique opportunity to take the next step in your career, develop your leadership skills and grow into a role with direct reports as the team and responsibilities expand. This role suits a proactive Quality Engineer who is confident working independently, passionate about driving improvements, and ready to take on greater ownership and influence within the quality function.
You will play a key role in investigating quality issues, implementing corrective and preventive actions, analysing quality data and driving continuous improvement to prevent recurring problems. Working closely with engineering, manufacturing, service, and other internal teams, you will help ensure products meet required standards and consistently meet customer expectations.
Supplier quality will be a significant part of the position, including managing supplier performance, supporting audits, investigating non-conformances and working collaboratively with suppliers to improve product quality. Travel is typically required about once every three weeks to visit UK-based suppliers.
You will also contribute to inspection planning, product and process changes, internal quality audits and the development of quality standards. The role involves using structured problem-solving techniques and quality tools to identify root causes, implement effective solutions and prevent repeat issues. You will also have the opportunity to support and coach colleagues in quality methods and continuous improvement practices.
Requirements:
- A qualification in engineering or a relevant discipline.
- Experience working in a high-tech manufacturing or engineering environment.
- Proactive attitude.
